Yellow Belt Complete Syllabus in American Advanced Kenpo Karate & Self Defense.

An insight into what you should be taught on the yellow belt syllabus for a beginner in American Advanced Kenpo Karate.
Why should anyone take up martial arts? you may have several reasons such as Preventing an attack, Protecting yourself, Getting fit loosing weight and to become confident in every thing that you do.  No matter what your reasons are you will feel good about yourself when you achieve your goal which ever road you decide to take in life.
The yellow belt syllabus is the first belt to be taught to you as beginner in American Advanced Kenpo Karate. Download Kenpo Dvds
The first thing you will learn is the clock method taught in every army in the world to search and pinpoint targets using the numbers on the clock as reference points.  The centre of the clock becomes your base walking down the street sitting in your car coming home from college or work in the subway.
You will be then taught basic moves consisting of some hand and kicking techniques, a horse stance, cat stance, neutral stance, to teach you the student to move with ease and manipulate your opponent or opponents in a defensive situation.
You will then be  taught as a beginner the star blocking  set one, consisting of several  blocks such as an upward, inward, outward, extended outward, downward outward, inward downward, push down and the reverse motions of your blocks will be elbows strikes.
Now you are ready to be taught the 10 self-defense techniques consisting of defences against such attacks as a right punch, a two handed attempted push to the ground, a left punch, a right kick, a bear hug from behind, a side headlock, an over head baton or knife attack, a double lapel grab, a right straight punch to you face a shoulder grab from behind. 
The next part of the yellow belt syllabus will  teach you short form 1 (also known  as a kata which is no more than a sequence of movements that teaches you how to move with ease as you manipulate your opponent or opponents using techniques and the clock method to assist you in dealing  with any  situation.
Short form 1 also teaches you how to retreat simultaneously as you intercept a punch or kick, you are also introduced to mass attacks defending against four guys  one coming from 12 o’ clock second from 9 o’clock third from 3 o’clock fourth from 6 o’clock.
The next and last part of the yellow belt syllabus for you to learn is the freestyle sparring techniques used in combat and competitions. There are four in all, the first one on this belt will teach you how to overcome your opponent in a stationary position, the second one will teach you how to close the gap between you and your opponent by shuffling forward which is no more than a push drag, the third one will teach you how to execute a right front crossover and a left step forward toward 12 o’clock, the fourth one is similar to third one with a right step through after your left step forward toward 12 o’clock. The purple belt syllabus is the Third belt to be taught to you as a beginner in American Advanced Kenpo Karate.
As a qualified orange belt you may decide to continue on to learn the next belt level which is the intermediate stage. Consisting of Short Form 2 Both Sides, Finger Set 1 Both Sides, and Co-Ordination Set 1
24 Self-Defense Techniques and Freestyle Sparring Techniques,
this is the stage where you start to feel a little more at ease with you techniques forms and sets. Master Maughan
The first part of the syllabus you will be taught is short form 2 on both side also known as a kata, in this form you will be introduced to the wide kneel stance and taught how to intercept your opponent, almost on all angles of the clock using the centre of the clock as your base in conjunction with your peripheral vision and to improve your ability to deal with mass attacks.
The next part of the syllabus you will be taught is the Coordination Set 1. It will teach you the skilful and balanced movements of different parts of the body simultaneously. It will also teach you how to settle you weight in behind your strikes with ease.
The next part of the purple belt syllabus that you will be taught are the 24 Self-defense techniques consisting of such attacks, as a right front over head baton or knife attack, a two handed choke from behind, a front rugby tackle from the front, a side club or knife attack, a two handed attempted push or grab from the front, a roundhouse kick, a two handed lapel grab from the front, a bear huge from behind arms pinned, a right arm lock from behind, and many more that you will enjoy practising.
 You will now move on to the next part of the syllabus and be taught finger set 1 that consists of several weapons that you can add to your weapons arsenal to be used in combat if the need arises.  Such as right and left horizontal finger strike, a front right and left vertical strike, a front right and left diagonal upward strike, a left inward parry followed by a right forward crane strike and much more, finger set 1 will improve your speed and accuracy.  Defensecourse
The last part of the syllabus on the purple belt that you will be taught is the freestyle sparring self-defence techniques, this is a combination of foot manoeuvres hand and kicking techniques used in a stationary position, these techniques will also teach you how to close the gap between you and your opponent and improve your fighting ability.  Freestyle sparring is divided into two categories tournament and street, in tournament you have rules on the street there is no such thing as rules.
